24/32 – [An Eventful Week]

After sleeping for half the day for an entire week, I feel so refreshed. I’ve been doing nothing and everything at the same time lately. I have too much time while having too little time for everything. Last week, I went to an open mic and performed, went out exploring the city line dancing in the Distillery District, met new friends at the BITSians Day event, reached out to old friends, went shooting for a long long time (100+ arrows!), went to the KoreaTown Festival and had some great Japanese pancakes. All while sleeping 12 hours a day. And even writing for my blog, writing new poetry and casually walking 15k steps everyday. I don’t know anymore how time works…

Moving on, I have so much I want to do and so much I can do, now all I need to do is to actually take regular breaks so that I don’t burn out. I’ve noticed I’m doing a lot more after moving to a city that I need to be proactive with taking breaks. With that said, I don’t have much to say for this week except — massage, rest, sleep and switch off your brain. If you don’t need to use it, conserve it. I have to add again, rest is so important! Yeah, my brain runs at 200 mph, I just need to turn it down rather than letting it steam out.

I’m excited to start having fun again now that I feel more rested.

On that note, I came across something interesting called focusing. Like the name says, it’s about focusing on your internal sensations — both emotional and physical, letting them be and to meet them. The steps are super simple and fun too! The first thing is to notice what’s inside of you, saying to yourself “something in me is …”. Next, you say hello to the sensation, and if you can feel the location of the sensation, placing a hand on it. You notice the sensations and note them by saying “I’m noticing …” It could be throbbing or warmth, anything. Finally, you tell yourself “No wonder you’re feeling …” because yes! there’s some reason you’re feeling that way, if you notice it or not. So, if you know the reason, plug it in. If not, just stick to the first part. Easy peasy. AND it lets you and your body relax too. Pretty cool, eh?
